So, let's take a moment to reflect on how we may be spending time and money this year, should we choose. Flicking through the release schedules on IMDB, these jump out at me for various reasons (I've skipped ones that I'm undecided about):
X-Men Origins: Wolverine
Ok, so, anyone else feel like we've had three Wolverine movies so far, and an actual X-Men movie might be an interesting change of pace? I don't expect much from this, I have to say, but I'll still end up seeing it.
Star Trek
As someone who doesn't have much good to say about anything JJ Abrams (a man only capable communication through the medium of flashback), this is one I will be seeing for the potential for a trainwreck. I can barely get my head around SImon Pegg as Scotty let alone the awful try-hard advertising.
Angels & Demons
Whenever I see David Koepp or Akiva Goldsman's names on a film's writing credits, I worry about quality. Both on the same film? This should be unintentional comedy gold.
The Brothers Bloom
It's from the guy that did Brick. Brick was all kinds of flavours of awesome, this merits checking out.
Terminator Salvation
Thought I was indifferent to the notion of another Terminator film (haven't seen 3, btw), but the trailers for this look like it might be entertaining.
Up
I know there's a feeling of people not being sure about this movie, but Darrell M Stark said that the clips he saw at NYCC were great, so I'm interested. Also, this: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3472/3398960470_05527c04b1_b.jpg
Drag Me To Hell
Does Sam Raimi still have the power to entertain in the world of horror? I wonder...
Moon
I'm a sucker for this sort of thing. It looks like a cross between a Philip K Dick short story and the movie Sunshine. Can't wait.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
I'm good for more giant robot smashy. No other real expectations of it, other than there will be flailing in the direction of humour and that there will be more stuff getting blown up
GI Joe: The Rise Of Cobra
If the two guys cartwheeling though the street in the trailer are bad guys, then this should be fun. If that's the good guys (who aren't Snake-Eyes), then this could be bad.
And that's what passes for my opinion. Huh, who do I think am?
So, thoughts? _________________ Wake Up Screaming - Try it, it won't hurt that much!

I know almost nothing about this one, but I am going to be seeing it just because I trust Pixar that much. And I think it'd be nice to see a movie without knowing much about it beforehand, anyway, for the novelty of it. I do love how it seems to star one of the least non-toyetic characters we've seen in an animated family film in a long time!
I'm definitely hoping to see Transformers 2, Star Trek, and GI Joes riffed by Rifftrax. _________________ IDGet: Proud to be back in the "links" section of the BPC main page. |

The only movie I'm interested in out of that bunch is "Up".
The only way you'd get me to see G.I. Joe is if they recreate the opening to the original animated movie. Dennis Quaid in a jetpack would be worth the price of admission alone. _________________ The Nolans |

One I maybe should have added to the list is District 9.

Accelerator Suits don't quite replace jet packs, eh? (Although, we never actually saw General Hawk fly in the opening...)
See, my primary source of memories for GI Joe comes from the old comic, that they reprinted over here as Action Force for a while. It used to run as a back-up strip for the UK Transformers comic. What little I saw of the GI Joe cartoon seemed so much sillier than the comic, and sillier still than the upcoming film.
The Nostalgia Critic could have a good laugh a the expense of the old GI Joe the movie. "So, instead of trying to save the world from terrorists, we're actually fighting the agents of an ancient race that pre-date the ice age and use giant bug monsters like they were vehicles?" _________________ Wake Up Screaming - Try it, it won't hurt that much!
